FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is provided/included and what do I need to bring?

The cost of the bike tour includes the use of a beach cruiser bike, helmet, a bottle of water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a refreshing treat along the route. You might want to bring a camera since you’ll find lots of photo opportunities on tour. We advise that you wear seasonally appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

When do I need to arrive for my tour?

We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your tour is scheduled to depart so that we can fit your bike and you can complete the contract and release form. If you prefer, you can click the below link to download the form now, fill it out, and bring the completed form with you.

How safe are the tours?

Safety is our number one priority. Each bike tour begins with a safety and bike usage talk. The tour route takes place on paths, trails, roads, beaches and/or sidewalks. We provide helmets and strongly encourage tour participants to wear them.

What if it rains?

Bike the Islands reserves the right to cancel tours for safety concerns such as high winds, thunderstorms, excessive heat or cold, or other severe conditions. For days with light rain, bring rain gear and we will still explore the right way. If Bike the Islands cancels the tour for safety concerns, you may either reschedule or request a full refund. We constantly monitor the weather and ask for a local contact number so that we can notify you of any necessary changes.

What if our group is larger than five people?

We are able to safely accommodate up to 10 people. Please contact us before booking a tour so that we can make special arrangements as needed.

What if young children are in our group?

Children are welcome on our tour if accompanied by an adult/guardian. However, we do not provide bikes for young children. You may provide a child’s bike or rent a bike from any of the area bike shops including Two Brothers Bike Shop and Island Bicycle. Please contact us before booking a tour with young children so that we can make special arrangements as needed.

What if we have our own bikes and/or helmets?

Please contact us before booking a tour if you desire to use your own equipment.

What if the sky is overcast?

While we can’t guarantee sunshine, we can guarantee a great time!

What is your cancellation policy for tours?

If you need to cancel your reservation, you may do so up to seven (7) days prior to your original tour date for a full refund. For cancellations made within seven days of your original tour date, Bike the Islands will issue a refund less a 10% cancellation fee.  For cancellations made within 48 hours of the tour date and time, Bike the Islands will issue a refund less a 50% cancellation fee. If you need to reschedule your reservation you may do so up to 24 hours before your tour.
